Friedemann Derschmidt ist bildender Künstler und Dokumentarfilmer in Wien, Er betreibt gemeinsam mit Karin Schneider das Ritesinstitute (http://www.ritesinstitute.org), welches in Kooperation mit dem israelischen Künstler Tal Adler seit 2005 Projekte an der Schnittstelle Israel / Österreich durchführt. Friedemann Derschmidt is an artist and filmmaker living in Vienna.
Together with Karin Schneider he heads the Institute for Research and Creation of Rituals and Ceremonies (http://www.ritesinstitute.org). Since 2005 the Institute for Research and Creation of Rituals and Ceremonies, in co-operation with Israeli artist Tal Adler, has realized several projects focusing on the intricate relationships between Austria and Israel / Palestine. – http://www.ritesinstitute.org/IsraelestiN/ He currently leads the research project MEMSCREEN (http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/abstracts/abstract.asp?L=D&PROJ=AR96) at the Research Lab for Film and Television at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he also holds the position of Lecturer.
